1. Departments

Open Catalog → Departments. Use the one-click convenience store starters, or add your own. Each department sets defaults for its items: tax group, age limit (18/21), EBT eligibility and kitchen station.

2. Add an item

Catalog → Items → New item.
Enter name, department and price. The SKU is generated for you.
Scan or type the barcode. No barcode? Choose Make an in-store barcode (EAN-13 starting with 2).
Add case packs (Case of 12 with its own barcode) under Units so a scanned case counts 12.
Set opening stock and cost if you track inventory.
Use Copy to start a similar item quickly.

3. Import a spreadsheet

Catalog → Items → Import and download the template.
Fill it in (match by SKU, then barcode) and upload. A check job previews every row first.
Run the import. It works in the background — follow the progress bar in the jobs tray and download an errors file if any rows were skipped.

4. Pictures

In the item form, choose Upload (any photo up to 15 MB — it is resized to a sharp WebP under 500 KB) or AI picture. For AI pictures, add your OpenAI key once in Settings → AI images, pick quality and a house style, then use Items → AI pictures to fill in every item missing a picture.

5. Variants

Open an item → Variants, add up to three options (Size: S, M, L; Colour: Grey, Navy). One item is made per combination; set prices or barcodes per variant. The register asks "choose size & colour", and scanning a variant's barcode adds it directly.

6. Labels and shelf tags

Select items in the list and choose Print labels, or print from the item form, from received deliveries, or from price changes (new shelf tags). Pick a template, copies and printer.

7. Bulk changes

Select rows → Bulk edit: set or change price by %, round to .99, change cost, department, tax, active or stock tracking.

8. The Scan screen

Catalog → Scan works on a phone or desktop with a scanner or camera. A known barcode shows the item, price and stock here; Count, Add or Remove in one step. An unknown barcode can be added to an existing item or used to create a new one.
