Sales tax

  1. Administration → Sales tax: add rates by jurisdiction (state, county, city).
  2. Assign rates to each store's tax groups (general merchandise, groceries, prepared food, alcohol, tobacco, motor fuel).
  3. Items get their tax group from their department unless you set one on the item.

Age-restricted items

Set Minimum age (18 or 21) on departments such as Beer, Wine, Tobacco and Vape. At the register, adding one of these items opens the ID check: scan the license barcode or enter the birth date.

Sale hours

Administration → Restricted sales: set the hours when alcohol and tobacco may be sold at each store. Outside those hours the register refuses the item, and the server refuses it too.

Refusal log

Reports → Sales → Refused age sales lists every refused sale with time, cashier and reason.

Excise taxes

Under ERP → Accounting → Reports → Excise taxes, add federal, state, county or city excise rates per gallon (fuel), per unit, or as a percentage of sales or cost. The report works out what you owe per store and period.
