Run your warehouse with bins and handhelds
Turn on bins, put stock away, pick and ship orders, and count by zone.
1. Make a location a warehouse
In Settings → Stores, tick Warehouse on the location (a store with active registers can't become one). Then open ERP → Warehouse and choose Use bins. Small shops never see bins unless they turn them on.
2. Create bins
- Warehouse → Bins → Add many: create a range such as A-01-01 to A-04-06 in one go.
- Set each bin's type (receiving, storage, pick, shipping, quarantine), zone and walk order.
- Print labels (Code 128) and stick them on the racks.
- Already used bin labels on items? Choose Turn on from old labels.
3. Receive and put away
- Receive the purchase order (back office or /wms → Receive on a handheld). Serial-tracked items ask for each serial.
- The Put away tab lists what needs a home and suggests a bin. Scan the bin to confirm.
- Move stock between bins with Move at any time.
4. Pick, pack and ship
- Confirm wholesale sales orders or outgoing transfers, then Release to warehouse.
- Create a pick list for one order or a wave of many. Lines are sorted by bin in walk order and stock is reserved.
- Pickers scan the bin and the item (and serials) on /wms → Pick. Short picks are flagged.
- Pack into cartons with weight and tracking number, print the packing slip, then Ship. Anything not picked can go on a backorder.
5. Count by bin
Start a bins count by zone, bin range or ABC class (A items most often). Blind counts hide the expected quantity. Posting adjusts both the ledger and the bins.
6. Replenish
The Replenish tab suggests moves from storage to pick bins below their minimum, and transfers to stores below their reorder point. Send all creates one transfer per store.
Tip: Open /wms on any phone — it uses the hardware scanner if there is one, or the camera.
